HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has issued a decision implementing disciplinary measures against Lê Thanh Hải, former Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee.

According to Decision No 1720/QĐ-TTg, Hải was removed from the title of the Chairman of the city People’s Committee and other positions he once held for violations and wrongdoings while performing his duties, for which he had also received disciplinary measures from the Party Central Committee.

The disciplinary period is counted from the date of the issuance of the Party Central Committee’s Decision No 1261-QĐNS/TW on May 21, 2024.

The PM also issued Decision No 1721/QĐ-TTg imposing the disciplinary action of termination of employment on Nguyễn Bá Hoan, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, due to violations and wrongdoings in his duties. A criminal investigation was also launched against him over bribery allegations in May 2025.

The Party Central Committee's Secretariat has also removed him from the Party, effective from the date of Decision No 2221-QĐNS/TW on June 27, 2025.
