Officials paid tribute at the State funeral of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng on Thursday morning at the National Funeral Hall in Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội.

He innovatively applied Hồ Chí Minh's ideology to formulate crucial policies that fostered the Party's growth.

One heartfelt condolence described Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng as: "The beloved son of the Vietnamese nation, the exceptional and outstanding leader, a steadfast Party member, a shining example of constantly studying and following President Hồ Chí Minh's ideology, ethics and style."

Writing in the condolence book, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP) Solly Mapaila emphasised that the SACP will always remember the contributions by the Vietnamese Party leader to the cause of building socialism in Việt Nam, and to inheriting the historical struggle against imperialism of the country under the leadership of President Hồ Chí Minh and General Võ Nguyên Giáp.

Myanmar Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Admiral Tin Aung San wrote in the condolence book that General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng made great contributions in upgrading the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive cooperative partnership during his visit to Myanmar in 2017.
