HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng has made the building of a strong, elite and modern public security force capable of national security protection and social order a key task.

He made the request at meeting held by the Central Public Security Party Committee on Wednesday. The conference, chaired by General Tô Lâm, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee and Minister of Public Security, focused on reviewing its work in 2022, implementing new tasks in 2023 and giving opinions on draft reports submitted to the 78th national public security conference.

At the conference, the delegates agreed that the Central Public Security Party Committee had directed the public security forces to promote the core role of protecting national security and ensuring social order, contributing to curbing crimes and creating positive changes in social order and safety.

Anti-corruption work has achieved many good results, focusing on investigating and handling cases under the Central Steering Committee for anti-corruption.

The committee has led national digital transformation, building an e-government, a digital economy, and a digital society. Two key projects on the national population database and the citizen identity database have been implemented.

Project 06, which helps promote digital transformation in the 20-2025 period, has initially achieved positive results on administrative reform, effectively serving organisations, businesses and people.

In particular, the committee has advised Politburo to promulgate Resolution No 12-NQ/TW dated March 16, 2022, to build strong, elite, and modern public security forces by 2025. It has managed to set out plans to implement the resolution, including roadmaps by 2025 and from 2026 to 2030.

The organisation's apparatus has continued to be consolidated, associated with the adjustment of assignment, professional decentralisation, and cadre structure according to standards, highlighted by the building of communal police forces to meet the new tasks.

Party General Secretary Trọng, State President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính highly appreciated the efforts of the committee.

Trọng affirmed the public security forces had completed their assigned tasks, making an important contribution to maintaining political and social stability, creating an environment of peace, stability and security, effectively serving the socio-economic development task and expanding the country's foreign relations.

The Party leader emphasised that the Central Party Committee of Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security actively monitor the situation in the country, in the region and in the world and are more active and proactive in anti-corruption work.

Trọng noted that it was necessary to focus on building a police force that had strong political will and was loyal to the Party, the State and the socialist regime; had pure moral qualities, a healthy lifestyle; had a high sense of discipline; and got ready to fight and sacrifice for the cause of national security protection.

He asked the committee to promote the key role in ensuring security and order, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring national defence and security by 2030 with a vision to 2045 of six regions across the country.

He believed that the public security forces would make stronger efforts to successfully implement Politburo's Resolution, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable national construction and development environment. — VNS
