HÀ NỘI — The first four episodes of the cartoon series Monta Trong Dải Ngân Hà Kì Cục (Monta in a Weird Galaxy) will air on YouTube Sunday.
The cartoon is the brainchild of 70 painters and features the adventures of a monkey named Monta and his friends. It is the first made-in-Việt Nam cartoon using an international style with eye-catching images and characters.
Its theme song Hey Monta by composer Phạm Toàn Thắng will be also featured. With simple lyrics, happy melodies and the sweet voice of singer Đức Phúc, the song is sure to be a hit with kids.
Three episodes of Monta in a Weird Galaxy premiered in cinemas in August this year.
The idea for the cartoon came from the team behind The Whale Hunters, which included Nguyễn Hoàng Vũ (1993), Lương Võ Thành Luân (1988), Sỳ Hữu Vinh (1988) and Dương Minh Lộc (1988). The team won first prize in screenwriting contest The Wanted Writer launched by Vintata last year.
The screenplay was developed by Jeffrey Scott, who has been nominated for five Emmy Awards.
Nearly 70 artists have worked for six months at a pace of 7,200 pictures per week for the three episodes, which is a record for Việt Nam. — VNS
