QUẢNG NINH — Tens of thousands of Chinese visitors flocked to Hạ Long in March.

The provincial tourism authorities said on some days there were 15,000 Chinese visitors, with 70 per cent coming by land through the Móng Cái Border Gate.

Đặng Tuấn Hà, deputy director of the Tuần Châu Port Authority, said the number of foreigners entering Quảng Ninh Province through the port rose from 3,000 a day last year to over 10,000, and sometimes even 15,000, this year.

Chinese account for over 70 per cent of the people visiting Hậ Long Bay these days, he said.

VnExpress quoted a tourism analyst as saying that the rising demand for travel among Chinese and their Government’s ban on travel to South Korea are among the reasons for the sharp increase. — VNS
