HÀ NỘI — A bronze drum from some 2,000-2,500 years ago was found recently at a house construction site by locals in Vĩnh Lộc District of central Thanh Hóa Province.

Through decorating patterns and its form, the drum was determined to be from the Đông Sơn Heger I genre.

The drum measures 59cm in diameter and 43cm in height. There are 12 stars carved on the surface of the drum.

Trịnh Văn Loán, a local, unearthed the drum while making the foundation for his house in Cầu Mư Village, an ancient village located more than 1km to the southeast of the Hồ Citadel relic site.

Several bronze drums have been found at the site.

Local authorities and concerned agencies have kept the drum for further research.
