Đà Nẵng to adorn sea dyke with tourist-friendly art

The central city of Đà Nẵng plans to decorate a 1.5km concrete sea dyke wall with paintings and ceramic mosaics from 2016-17, creating an art space and tourist attraction.

ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city of Đà Nẵng plans to decorate a 1.5km concrete sea dyke wall with paintings and ceramic mosaics from 2016-17, creating an art space and tourist attraction.

Vice director of the city’s Culture and Sports Department, Nguyễn Hữu Chiến, said the project, which will run along Mỹ Khê beach, will be built with total VNĐ11.4 billion (US$506,000) from donors.

Chiến said sculptors, architects and art students from Đà Nẵng will be the main creators of the art project which will feature scenes of the ocean, fishing villages, landscape, people, history and lifestyle of Đà Nẵng and the central region.

The project decorating the most pristine beach of the city will be the first art space of its kind in Đà Nẵng.

The project will run between the junctions of Võ Văn Kiệt street and Võ  Nguyên Giáp. It will end at the junction with Nguyễn Văn Thoại  street – the most crowd beach section in Đà Nẵng  — VNS
