HCM CITY — Phú Quốc Island is likely to host Southeast Asia’s largest sea festival next year, according to the Epizode sea festival co-operation project being arranged by Russian entertainment company Epizode, Vietnamese event organiser Đông Đô Show Co., and 99 Mountains Company, developer of Sunset Sanato Resort on Phú Quốc.

The festival is under the Real Utility to Reality project organised in countries such as Cambodia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Russia.

In Việt Nam, it will feature a wide range of activities, including music and sports events that can potentially attract hundreds of thousands of people.

It will take place in Việt Nam twice, for around 15 days each time.

Đông Đô Show has not yet disclosed the exact dates as it is completing necessary procedures to hold the festival.

The events will be held on Phú Quốc beach and use environment-friendly materials. The organisers expect to create a spectacle with modern lighting and sound but also elements of traditional Vietnamese culture.

In the first five months of this year Phú Quốc received 534,000 visitors, up 52 per cent year-on-year.

The figure includes 108,000 foreign arrivals, up 2.1 per cent.
