HÀ NỘI — Seven handicraft villages in the city will join the annual Handicraft Tourism Villages Festival Hà Nội - Việt Nam 2016 to be held here next week.

Artisans from the villages, including Vạn Phúc Silk Village and Bát Tràng Ceramic Village, will present their working process at the event, while an exhibition of photos of these traditional villages and typical products will be on display.

Some 250 stalls featuring handicrafts, food, fine arts and tourism products by enterprises throughout the country will be available at the event.

With the theme “Hà Nội-The Quintessence of Traditional Handicrafts”, the event aims to praise local traditional handicrafts and create opportunities for artisans, handicraft and tourism enterprises to exchange and cooperate with each other, according to organisers.

The event will take place at the Thăng Long Royal Citadel Relic Site between September 29 and October 2.

The opening ceremony will take place at 7.30pm on September 29 at the Đoan Môn Square.

A workshop on how Vietnamese handicraft villages can boost tourism and international integration will be held within the framework of the festival.

The festival is a cultural activity being held to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of capital’s liberation (October 10, 1954). — VNS
