CENTRAL REGION — Three central localities – Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng – organised a joint tourism promotion programme to better connect with the Australian market.

The programme, called 'Amazing Central Việt Nam Heritage', aims to introduce eco-tour services and heritage destinations to 100 travel agency representatives and their customers in the Australian cities of Melbourne and Sydney.

The three localities are home to major world heritage sites: Hội An ancient town, Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary and the Chàm Islands - Hội An world biosphere reserve in Quảng Nam Province, the Huế Monuments Complex in Thừa Thiên-Huế and Đà Nẵng, which is known as Asia’s leading destination for events-based tourism.

The central coastal provinces and cities are also home to beautiful beach golf courses designed by Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Collin Montgomerie and Luke Donald.

Director of Đà Nẵng City’s Tourism Department Trương Thị Hồng Hạnh noted that launching new direct flights from Australia to central Việt Nam would help create a favourable eco-tourism connection to Australia for visitors to explore the area's traditional culture, beach vacation destinations, natural landscapes and entertainment.

She said the region will offer golf tourism services for its seven golf courses as well as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism services.

Nguyễn Thanh Hồng, director of Quảng Nam Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shared that the 'Amazing Central Việt Nam Heritage' programme is a brand developed by all three localities together and designed for international travellers.

Australia was listed as one of the top 10 key tourism markets for Huế, Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng. The region welcomed 165,000 visitors in the first seven months of 2024, accounting for 59 per cent of the total number of Australian travellers to Việt Nam.

In 2023, 166,000 visitors to Việt Nam booked their tours in Australia.

The three localities have also been promoting green tourism to follow the trend of sustainable and environmentally friendly travel.

Last month, Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng also promoted a tourism programme in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. — VNS
