First tourists visit in New Year

The national flag carrier brought the first domestic passengers from Hà Nội to Đà Nẵng, while budget airline VietJet took 170 tourists from Incheon to the central city for coastal heritage tours.

Đà Nẵng — Two flights by Vietnam Airlines and VietJet carrying more than 330 passengers from Hà Nội and Incheon, South Korea landed at Đà Nẵng International Airport on the first New Year day, promising a growth year of tourism industry of the central city.

The national flag carrier brought the first domestic passengers from Hà Nội to Đà Nẵng, while budget airline VietJet took 170 tourists from Incheon to the central city for coastal heritage tours.

The city’s tourism department said Đà Nẵng hosted 4.4 million air passengers, of which 3.8 million were domestic, in 2022. A total of  24 air routes including 15 international had successfully operated 4,700 flights.

Soth Korea is seen as the busiest with four routes – Incheon, Busan, Deagu, and Muan – and 60 flights per week.

Other air routes such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and India have helped increase number of international tourists to Đà Nẵng.

The department said 395 flights from domestic and international airlines had registered to carry 58,000 passengers, of which 21,000 were international visitors, to Đà Nẵng during the New Year vacation.

Also on the first day of New Year, the city’s Tiên Sa Port handled two first cargo ships of Haian Park and Ever Optima.

On the first day of 2023, Hội An ancient town welcomed the first tourist group from Mongolia visiting the UNESCO-recognised World Heritage site.

Earlier, art performances, exhibition, tea experience space had been organised in the town's Old Quarter in celebrations of New Year.  — VNS
