HCM CITY— Young artists will use their comic creativity to entertain the world and connect people together thanks to a new contest launched recently in HCM City. 

The event “COMINK Comic Contest 2022" targeted amateur and professional comic artists in Việt Nam as part of an effort to support new talent in the art.

It offers prizes in individual and group categories totaling VNĐ300 million (US$12,800). 

The best works will be published by leading printers, magazines and newspapers. 

Winners will also be offered free training from specialists working at the Comic Media Academy Vietnam.

The organiser, One Heart Pictures Company, seeks works with themes about the lives of young people and their challenges and dreams. 

Famous comic artists, graphic designers, film directors and producers are part of the jury.

Vietnamese-American film director and producer Charlie Nguyễn, a member of the contest’s jury, said, the contest’s theme is ‘Cuộc hành trình bắt đầu – The Journey Begins’. 

“We hope the contest will give its young participants a chance to develop their careers and bring comic creators, publishers, and video game and film producers together to offer new, quality products to fans,” he said. 

Participants in "COMINK Comic Contest 2022" must submit their drawings of at least three characters on paper with subtitles of no more 3,000 words, and send to https://comink.com.vn/. 

Entries should be sent by December 31.  

The prize winners will be announced in July, 2023. — VNS
