K-pop singing contest launched

Vietnamese people of all ages will have a chance to participate in a singing contest held in the country's big cities.

HÀ NỘI – Vietnamese people of all ages will have a chance to participate in a singing contest held in the country's big cities.

The contest Bài Hát K-pop Tôi Yêu (My Beloved K-pop Song) is held by the South Korean Creative Content Agency in Việt Nam (KOCCA Việt Nam) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the relationship between Việt Nam and South Korea.

It aims to encourage young Vietnamese people to love and enjoy K-pop music. The contest with have three rounds and will take place in Đà Nẵng, HCM City and Hà Nội from August 27 to September 24.

The final night will be held on October 1 with the participation of Vietnamese pop singers. This is KOCCA Việt Nam's first time organising a K-pop singing contest in the country.

"The contest will be a good chance for Vietnamese young people who love K-pop singing," said Hong Jeong-yong, head of KOCCA Việt Nam.

"We organise the singing contest to make life more beautiful and diversified in the context of the friendship relationship between the two countries."

The contestants will sing Korean songs in different genres. They are encouraged to perform with dances and backup vocals. Solo and troupe performances are welcomed. It will not be a limited number of performers in the troupe performance.

The contest jury panel will be representatives from Korean cultural sectors in Việt Nam, as well as Vietnamese and Korean music lecturers and singers.

The jurors will award the five best performances by a single or troupe, including one first, one second, two third prizes and two consolation prizes.

The winners will have a chance to perform with Korean K-pop idols in October at a cultural event held by KOCCA Việt Nam.

The KOCCA is a governmental agency that oversees and coordinates the promotion of the South Korean content industry. It was established in May 2009, and its office in Việt Nam was founded in 2020. VNS
