LONG AN — The southern province of Long An will host its first Culture and Tourism Festival in Tân An City in September.
The event's theme is “Du lịch Long An An Toàn, Thân Thiện, Hấp Dẫn” (Tourism in Long An - Safe, Friendly and Attractive) and will promote its tourism potential and contribution to its social-economic development.
Phạm Tấn Hòa, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said, “The Culture and Tourism Festival 2022 is the province’s biggest event. The event will introduce the province’s history, culture, tradition, people and natural landscapes to tourists in Việt Nam and from all around the world.”
The festival will include an opening ceremony featuring several music and dance performances, as well as performances of tài tử music, a traditional music genre of the South.
It will also have a street carnival, street food festival, exhibitions of photos about the province, traditional games and sports competitions.
A fair showcasing the province’s OCOP (one commune one product) products will be set up as well.
The organisers will hold seminars and forums on tourism promotion to introduce the province’s new tourism products and connect local tourism agencies with businesses from other countries.
The province also invited Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Niê to become the festival’s ambassador.
H’hen Niê said, “I’m very honoured to become the communication ambassador of the festival. I have learnt a lot about the province’s history and culture and admire its people’s patriotism and solidarity during the country’s resistance wars. That makes me have a special feeling to the land and people of the province.”
Hòa said the role of communication ambassador was very important. “It helps to connect and promote the image of the province to the people.”
