HÀ NỘI — The 10th Vietnamese culture festival will take place in Seoul in early September as part of the celebrations for the 77th National Day of Việt Nam and the 30th anniversary of Việt Nam-RoK diplomatic relations.

The event will be held on September 4 by the Vietnamese People Association in the Republic of Korea, under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK. The aim is to create a space for the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Korea, reported baoquocte.vn.

It includes a series of activities such as a Vietnamese-South Korean talent contest, a writing contest on the Việt Nam-RoK diplomatic ties, and a painting competition for children of Vietnamese-South Korean families with the theme “Việt Nam Trong Trái Tim Tôi 2022” (Việt Nam in My Heart 2022), as well as an art performance programme by Vietnamese artists.

An awards ceremony will also be held to honour individuals and organisations that have contributed to the development of the Vietnamese community in South Korea.

Visitors to the festival will have a chance to sample some traditional Vietnamese delicacies at 20 booths during the event.

Spaces showcasing local culture from the past decades will be re-enacted. In addition, tourists will have the opportunity to try on áo dài (Vietnamese traditional dress) and Hanbok (Korean traditional costume), and write calligraphic works on paper or nón lá (Vietnamese palm-leaf conical hat).

The festival was first held in 2010 to promote the image of Việt Nam in the RoK, as well as its special culture and tourism.

The Korea Content Creation Agency (KOCCA) in Việt Nam announced it will organise a series of cultural-entertainment events this year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Cultural events include the Korean Animation Festival and Korean Culture Days in Việt Nam.

In August, HCM City and Đà Nẵng will host the K-pop qualifying competitions. In October, KOCCA will release a book on video games.

In November, Hallyu Expo, the highlight of a series of events commemorating the diplomatic relations between the two countries, will feature several exhibition spaces, musical performances and other events.

KOCCA will also provide the most up-to-date information and trends on the Vietnamese industry, as well as assist Korean content companies in their entry into the Vietnamese market.

KOCCA is an agency under the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism that was founded in May 2009 to promote and expand the Korean content sector. In October of 2020, KOCCA opened a representative office in Việt Nam.

Since its presence in the country, KOCCA has mostly arranged online activities, such as business contacts, animation contests and K-pop concerts, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

This year, KOCCA Việt Nam plans to encourage cultural exchange activities, undertake market research, and connect content creators from both countries. VNS
