BÌNH PHƯỚC – Some 800 litres of oil leaked into Bưng Dục spring in Chơn Thành District’s Minh Hưng Ward on Tuesday, causing pollution.
On Wednesday, Bình Phước Province Police collaborated with other functional forces to handle the situation. According to the initial investigation, a fault in a flow line of Bình Phước Green Solution Production and Trading Corporation in Minh Hưng 3 Industrial Zone Chơn Thành District, resulted in 800 litres of rubber oil spewing into Bưng Dục spring.
Following heavy rain, the oil flowed into the concentrated drainage of Minh Hưng 3 Industrial Zone and then into the spring, about 500m away.
On Wednesday morning, residents of Minh Hưng Ward detected slick on the surface of the water. They then tried setting a fire by throwing burning wood into the spring.
The Environmental Police Department under the provincial police immediately collaborated with relating agencies to address the spill.
Water samples were also taken to determine the pollution level of Bưng Dục spring.
At present, the police are consolidating the dossiers to further investigate the case. – VNS
