HỘI AN — Hội An has opened its first complex producing non-chemical essential oils, coffee and herb tea from local materials after three years construction at Thanh Hà Industrial Park in the city.
The project director, La Ngọc Anh said the complex, which was invested in by HANN Group, will make chemical-free products without preservatives, combined with manufacturing tours for visitors.
Anh said the plant, built on 2,500sq.m with total investment of VNĐ90 billion (nearly US$4 million), will be the largest essential oil manufacturing plant in central Việt Nam with a capacity of one million units of essential oils for cosmetics from local herbs, clean drip coffee and herb tea filter bag products.

He said the plant would also manufacture the Hội An-based Faifo Coffee brand and Chàm Islands-grown herb tea, consuming 30 tonnes of local materials from farmers including sweet basil, peppermint, citronella, agawood, coriander Chinese parsley and pepper from Cẩm Kim Village for essential oil production and shampoo, shower cream, skin cream, soap and perfumes.
The company said essential oil from local herbs would be exported to Asian and European markets.
Hội An has developed Trà Quế vegetable village as an organic vegetable farming site along with Cẩm Kim, Thanh Tam Đông and various eco-tour sites.
Nguyễn Văn Dũng, chairman of Hội An City People’s Committee, said natural oil production and organic coffee and herb tea product will help promote the tourism brand of Hội An, making it a top destination for safe farm products.
The tourism hub hosted five million tourists, including 3.7 million foreigners, in 2018, a 50 per cent growth in comparison of previous year.
