HÀ NỘI — The South Korean budget carrier, Air Seoul, will launch a new flight to Việt Nam’s central city of Đà Nẵng next month.
The move is aimed at expanding the airline’s services in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new flight, a 195-seater A321 aircraft, will be launched on May 18, a spokeswoman for the airline was quoted as saying by Yonhap News Agency.
Air Seoul is a subsidiary of Asiana Airlines. The airline is based at Incheon International Airport in Seoul, from which it operates flights to international destinations.
Air Seoul currently operates six A321 chartered planes---two 220-seater and four 195-seater aircraft, flying to 16 cities in five countries---Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the US territory of Guam.
In recent years, Việt Nam has emerged as an attractive destination for South Korean tourists, according to tour operators.
More than 2.4 million South Koreans visited Việt Nam in 2017, up 56.4 per cent year-on-year. In the first three months of 2018, Việt Nam welcomed 900,000 South Korean tourists. Thus, South Korea has become a major market for Việt Nam. Tour operators predict that the number of South Korean visitors to Việt Nam, especially to the central region, will continue to grow in future. — VNS
