ĐẮK NÔNG — A tornado swept through Đắk R-Tih Commune in the Central Highland province of Đắk Nông yesterday, destroying tens of houses and hectares of farms, the local authority said.

Chairman of the committee Nguyễn Hải Lý said the initial report showed that nearly 35 houses were unroofed or totally destroyed soon after the heavy rainfall, along with a tornado, occurred yesterday evening.

Electric poles collapsed, triggering power shortage to many households.

The commune is checking the damages to the farms caused by the tornado, he said.

Earlier, on May 10, a heavy rainfall, accompanied with a tornado, swept through Đắk Mol Commune, destroying tens of houses and coffee processing facilities of local residents.
