PHNOM PENH — Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on June 16 ordered ministries, sectors, and localities to facilitate the return of Cambodian workers from Thailand while connecting them with domestic employment opportunities.
He ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to direct the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok, and Consulates General in Sa Kaeo and other regions to provide procedural support for the workers. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training was tasked with linking these returnees to job opportunities, addressing the country’s current labour shortage.
Besides, leaders of the Ministry of Interior and authorities from seven provinces bordering Thailand, namely Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Battambang, Pailin, Pursat, and Koh Kong, were ordered to coordinate closely to support to all returning citizens, regardless of whether they possess identification documents. In case of overwhelming number of returnees, relevant sides must provide them with transportation. — VNA/VNS
