HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will play Tajikistan in their first match at the AFC Futsal Championship next month in Turkmenistan.
Following AFC’s draw organised on January 14, Việt Nam will play the Central Asian rival in Group A on February 26 in Ashgabat City.
They will face Oman two days later and the hosts on March 1.
Phạm Minh Giang’s 20-player side are in training at the Thái Sơn Nam Gymnasium in HCM City and they will leave for an overseas training camp in Spain on February 9. The entire team will travel to Turkmenistan on February 19.
Việt Nam made their World Cup debut in 2016. Giang is expected to repeat the brilliant achievement this year when he takes charge of the national team for the first time.
The Asian championship is also the qualifier of the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup. The top four teams of the tournament will earn World Cup slots. Meanwhile four squads who lose in the quarter-finals will play each other for the last place.
