Football tourney connects Vietnamese community in Japan

HÀ NỘI The FAVIJA Tokai Cup 2019 for Vietnamese people living in Japan’s Tokai region has taken place in Aichi Prefecture.
The event was held on Sunday by the football association of Vietnamese people in Japan (FAVIJA) and sponsored by the Embassy of Việt Nam in Japan. It featured 32 teams, comprising mainly of young trainees and students.
FC Shibata from Aichi Prefecture’s Nagoya city triumphed, followed by FC 37 Nagoya and FC Suzuka. Individual titles were also presented to the top goalscorers and goalkeepers.
In addition to gathering the Vietnamese expat community, the tournament welcomed Japan’s new era Reiwa, which began on May 1 with the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito.
Currently, more than 300,000 Vietnamese people are living, working, and studying in Japan. VNS
