HÀ NỘI — Trương Bích Vân has won a double at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix which wrapped up in Beijing, China.
Vân on Sundaywon her first gold in the women’s F56 shot put event with a throw of 7.33m
She then triumphed again in the discus with an attempt of 18.60m.
The Southeast Asian champion also earned a bronze in the javelin, throwing 14.40m.
Other golds went to Cao Ngọc Hùng (men’s F57 discus), Kiều Minh Trung (men’s F55 javelin) and Nguyễn Thị Hải (women’s F57 javelin).
The Vietnamese athletes also grabbed silver medals in the men’s T12 100m, 200m and 400m through Phạm Nguyễn Khánh Minh and the women’s F54 shot put, javelin and discus thanks to Thị Ngọc Thúy.
Võ Văn Tùng claimed a bronze hat-trick in the men’s F34 shot put, javelin and discus, while Nguyễn Ngọc Quỳnh Trâm ran to third place in the women’s T12 400m event.
Việt Nam finished third overall with six golds, eight silvers and seven bronzes.
Hosts China had no difficulty taking top position with 114 golds, while Japan came second with 29. —VNS
