HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam beat Brunei 9-0 in the first match of Group B of the AFF Futsal Championship held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia yesterday.
Việt Nam dominated the match from the opening whistle and Chu Văn Tiến opened the scoring for the Vietnamese side in the first minute.
Minutes later, Quốc Hưng doubled the score for Việt Nam. Before the first half closed, Việt Nam scored thrice more.
After the break, Việt Nam continued to heap the pressure on, scoring four more goals and maintain a clean sheet to win 9-0.
Among many glittering performances, Thành Tín stood out with a hat-trick.
With this win, Việt Nam rank second in Group B, behind Thailand who crushed Timor Leste 14-0.
Việt Nam are expected to enter the final of the event which will last until November 11.
On Tuesday, Việt Nam meet Timor Leste.
The AFF event has been divided into two groups. Myanmar are in Group A together with host Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia. Group B comprises of Thailand, Việt Nam, Brunei and Timor Leste. — VNS
