International cycling tour launched in HCM City

HÀ NỘI — The third VTV International Cycling Tournament – Tôn Hoa Sen Cup – was launched yesterday in Hồ Chí Minh City.

The event is being-organised by VTV and the Việt Nam Cycling Federation (VCF) to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2). 

During a press conference at the launch ceremony, the organising board said 80 cyclists from six domestic cycling teams and six foreign clubs would compete over 14 stages covering 1,800km,

“This is a big event and an opportunity for domestic and foreign teams to enhance their skills. It is also a chance for Việt Nam to highlight its most beautiful sites, culture, history and people.”

Ngô Quang Vinh, deputy head of the VCF, said the support of VTV and Tôn Hoa Sen Group had helped domestic teams and build cyclists and introduce national sports to foreign friends. 

The race will start on September 2 and run from Hà Nội to Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, Quảng Bình, Huế, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Nam, Bình Định, Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk and Bình Phước, before finishing in Hồ Chí Minh City on September 16. — VNS
