HÀ NỘI — Young talent Nguyễn Anh Khôi beat Ahmed Adly of Egypt in the eighth set of the 25th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival on Tuesday. 

Khôi (Elo 2,454) defeated Adly after taking advantage of his mistakes. Adly lost after 31 moves.

With this victory, Khôi has 5.5 points after the eighth set, ranked fourth in his group.

The former defending champ of U10 and U12 will meet Vladimir Fedoseev (Elo 2,707) in the ninth set.

Top Vietnamese chess player Lê Quang Liêm (Elo 2,727) took white and defeated Aryan Chopra of India (2,536), also achieving 5.5 points after eight sets.

Liêm will take black and meet David Jojua of Georgia in the final set. — VNS
