HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Vũ Artem and partner American Diaz Miguel were ousted from the Việt Nam F2 Futures tennis tournament yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

The pair, who received a wild-card to participate in this event, lost 4-6, 4-6 to Japanese Yutaro Matsuzaki and Canadian Kelsey Stevenson in a 68-minute first-round match in the doubles event.

There is no Vietnamese left in this category.

The only athlete from the host nation who still has a shot in the US$15,000 competition is national top flight Lý Hoàng Nam in the singles event, who will meet Mikalai Haliak of Belarus in the quarterfinals today.

In other games yesterday, No 1 duo Duldaev Daniyar of Kazakhstan and Fayziev Sanjar of Uzbekistan got a walkover to the next round after Mislav Bosnjak and Matthew Dellavedova from Australia withdrew when the score was 4-0 in the first set.

Meanwhile, Indian Vasisht Cheruku and Sasi Kumar Mukund beat Vasko Mladenov of Bulgaria and Vadym Ursu of Ukraine 6-3, 6-4. — VNS
