Thảo wins gold at Asian athletics champs

Bùi Thị Thu Thảo brought home a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India on July 6.

HÀ NỘI — Bùi Thị Thu Thảo won a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India on Thursday.

Thảo won the women’s long jump with 6.54m.

At the Asian Grand Prix in May, Thảo also bagged two gold medals with her marks of 6.41m and 6.58m. At the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore two years ago, Thảo won a silver medal with 6.65m, while Maria Natalia Londa of Indonesia took gold medal with 6.70m.

In the men’s 400m category, Quách Công Lịch entered the semi-final round with a time of 46.35secs. His younger sister Quách Thị Lan also moved to semi-finals of the women’s side with a time of 53.26secs.

Việt Nam sent six athletes to compete in the tournament, which will conclude tomorrow. — VNS
