Vietnamese marksmen win gold in regional champs

Phan Công Minh of Việt Nam won a gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol individual event at the Southeast Asian Shooting Championships at Subang Shooting Range, Malaysia, yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — Phan Công Minh of Việt Nam won a gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol individual event at the Southeast Asian Shooting Championships at Subang Shooting Range, Malaysia, yesterday.

Minh scored 569 points to top the podium. He was followed by teammate Hà Minh Thành with 567 points and Gai Binh of Singapore with 565 points.

Minh later grabbed his second title in the team event, scoring 1,682 points, along with Thành and Bùi Hồng Phong.

Malaysia and Hong Kong came second and third, respectively.

Bùi Thị Thu Thủy grabbed a third gold for Việt Nam yesterday, as she claimed first place in the women’s 10m air pistol individual.

Lin Hui-wen and Chien Hsin-yi of Chinese Taipei earned silver and bronze medals.

The Vietnamese team also pocketed two bronze medals on the fourth day of the tournament.

Nguyễn Thị Hà came third in the women’s 10m air pistol individual. Trio Dương Thị Luyến, Nguyễn Huyền Trang and Nguyễn Thị Ngân finished third in the women’s 50m rifle prone team category.

After four days, Việt Nam have four gold, nine silver and four bronze medals in their kitty.

The annual championship will end on May 12. — VNS
