HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Quang Hải’s perfect free kick helped Việt Nam’s U20 team beat Fortuna 05 Dusseldorf’s U19 squad 4-1 in their last friendly match on Wednesday in Germany.

Hải, who started from the bench in the previous matches, began in the first line-up in this game and assisted striker Nguyễn Tiến Linh to score the opener early in the first half.

The visiting team had no difficulty setting up their domination.

Substitute Hà Đức Chinh scored the second goal following the interval.

Tấn Sinh made it 3-0 from a free kick minutes before Hải sealed the game with another goal.

The hosts tried to fight back but they could only manage one goal towards the end of the first half.

Việt Nam completed their two-week training in Germany with two wins and one loss. However, the team suffered a major loss, with midfielder Bùi Tiến Dụng, a key player under coach Hoàng Anh Tuấn’s plan, breaking his collarbone.

Doctors said he would need up to one month to recover.

This means Dụng may miss his chance to compete at the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea from May 22 to June 11.

Dụng is a player with good form and endurance. With his strong playing style, he plays an important role in Việt Nam’s counterattack tactics.

Tuấn also has problems with two other players -- Tấn Tài and Thái Quý -- who are suffering from injuries that require them to rest for one to two weeks.

The Vietnamese team will return home on April 28. They will stay in Bình Dương to prepare for a friendly match against Argentina’s U20 squad on May 10.
