HÀ NỘI — Trần Tuấn Minh grabbed his second gold medal at the National Chess Championships’ rapid chess event which ended yesterday in Hà Nội.
The Grandmaster (GM) from the hosts has nine points after 11 rounds, as many as No 1 seed Nguyễn Ngọc Trường Sơn of Cần Thơ, but he took the title due to a better parameter.
GM Sơn, who triumphed in the blitz chess two days ago, earned a silver while the bronzes went to GM Nguyễn Đức Hòa of the Army team and Đặng Hoàng Sơn of HCM City.
Minh earlier won the standard chess event on Sunday.
On the women’s side, Women’s GM Nguyễn Thị Thanh An of HCM City secured her title with nine points.
She is followed by International Master Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên of Cần Thơ in second place and WGM Nguyễn Thị Mai Hưng of Bắc Giang and HCM City’s Hoàng Thị Bảo Trâm who shared the third position. — VNS
