Defending champions Thái Sơn Nam won the first leg of the National Futsal Tournament at Military Zone 7 Stadium in HCM City on Saturday.

HÀ NỘI — Defending champions Thái Sơn Nam won the first leg of the National Futsal Tournament at Military Zone 7 Stadium in HCM City on Saturday.

Thái Sơn Nam beat Sanest Tourist Khánh Hòa 4-1 in the ninth-round match of the event’s first leg, to top the rankings with 22 points.

Demonstrating their domination with their skills and experience, Thái Sơn Nam took the lead in the 16th minute of the match when Quang Hải of Khánh Hòa shot the ball resulting in a self-goal for his team.

In the 19th minute, Nguyễn Minh Trí doubled the score for Thái Sơn Nam.

In the second half, Quốc Tâm and Trần Thái Huy scored two more goals to help the defending champions widen the gap to 4-0.

Lê Hồng Quý reduced the lead to 4-1 for Khánh Hóa in the last minute.

In the other matches, Hoàng Thư Đà Nẵng lost to Hải Phương Nam Phú Nhuận 0-2, Tân Hiệp Hưng beat Cao Bằng 3-1, Sài Gòn FC tied 2-2 with Sanatech Khánh Hóa and Thái Sơn Bắc lost to Sanna Khánh Hòa 2-4 to finish ninth in the rankings.

The tournament will temporarily stop for some seven weeks for the Việt Nam U20 futsal team to prepare for the final round of the Asian futsal championships, to be held between May 16 and May 26 in Thailand.

After that, the second leg will resume on June 10. — VNS
