Linh wins Nepal badminton tourney

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Nguyễn Thùy Linh triumphed at the Nepal International Series’ badminton tournament on Saturday in Kathmandu.

The women’s singles No 1 seed defeated Devi Yunit Indah Sari of Indonesia 21-17, 21-16 to win her second international trophy.

No 2 seed Abhishek Yelegar won the men’s singles title after defeating Siddharath Thakur 21-16, 21-14 in an all-Indian final.

The three doubles titles also went to Indian athletes.

The women’s doubles trophy was won by No 1 pair Meghana Jakkampudi and Ram Poorvisha. Also, Indians Ramchanra Shlok and Arjun Madathil Ramachandran took the men’s double victory. And Anoushka Parikh and Saurabh Sharma won the mixed doubles.

The Nepal International Series is one of 38 tournaments held by the Badminton World Federation’s International Challenge.

Some 100 athletes took part in the event from December 13-17. — VNS
