Wrestlers competing in Asian champs in Taipei

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam is taking part in the Cadet Asian Championship Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Female Wrestling in Chinese Taipei.

In the first day of competition yesterday, Nguyễn Đình Huy failed to make the top three after losing in the qualification round of the Cadet’s Greco-Roman 50kg category.

Yerassyl Nurbossynov of Kazakhstan took the gold, beating Indian Vijay Vijay in the final match. Xu Jiahao from China took third place.

His teammate Nguyễn Công Thành will compete today in the 58kg Greco-Roman class.

On the women’s side, Cấn Thị Hồng will take part in the freestyle 43kg pool today while Trương Thị Thanh Hiền will test her skills tomorrow in the freestyle 70kg division.

The championship, organised by the Taiwan Wrestling Association, will wrap up on Sunday in the city of Taichung. — VNS
