HÀ NỘI — All Vietnamese badminton players were eliminated from the YONEX US Open on Thursday.

In the second round of the mixed doubles event, Đỗ Tuấn Đức and Phạm Như Thảo lost to Sam Magee and Chloe Magee of Ireland 21-18, 18-21, 21-17. Meanwhile, Dương Bảo Đức and Vũ Thị Trang withdrew from this round. Their rivals Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba of Poland automatically reached the third round.

In the second round of the women’s singles event, Ayumi Mine of Japan defeated Trang, born in the northern Bắc Giang Province, 21-17, 21-6.

Earlier, top Vietnamese player Nguyễn Tiến Minh withdrew from the men’s singles’ first round due to weakness. — VNS
