Hà Nội has pocketed three gold medals to lead the National U23 Fencing Championship in Hải Dương Province.
Nguyễn Xuân Lợi of Hà Nội defeated Vũ Văn Hùng from Hải Phòng 15-13 to win the men’s sabre event.
Bùi Thị Thu Hà of Hải Phòng triumphed in the women’s sabre after her 15-5 win over Nguyễn Minh Hằng from the host city.
Earlier, Đỗ Thị Anh brought the second gold for Hà Nội after winning 15-7 over Phạm Thị Ngọc Luyến of Bắc Ninh to take the women’s foil title. Nguyễn Minh Quang trounced HCM City’s Chiến Thắng 15-9 on the men’s side to take the third title for Hà Nội.
HCM City’s Nguyễn Phước Đến beat Hanoian Trần Út Ngọc 15-6 in the men’s epee class. And Nguyễn Phương Kim from HCM City championed on the women’s side, beating Bắc Ninh Province’s Nguyễn Thị Quyên 15-12.
After the individual categories, athletes will take part in the team events.
The championship, which draws more than 100 athletes from six cities and provinces, wraps up tomorrow. — VNS
