HÀ NỘI — Marksmen who win an Olympic medal will receive a big bonus from sponsors according to the Việt Nam Shooting Federation.
Following the federation’s announcement on May 27, a gold winner will be awarded VNĐ1 billion (US$44,5000), a silver holder will take home VNĐ800 million (US$36,000), while a bronze medallist will bag VNĐ600 million (US$27,000) from the Sports Investment Joint Stock Company.
The South Korean Synopex Group has promised US$50,000 while Gallewatch, Việt Nam’s official distributor pledged VNĐ100 million (US$4,500) for any medal that is brought home, in addition to other rewards.
It is the first time such huge bonuses from enterprises and groups have been offered to shooters from Việt Nam.
Việt Nam has two athletes, Hoàng Xuân Vinh and Trần Quốc Cường competing in the upcoming shooting competition at the Olympics in Brazil this August. — VNS
