Ly to compete for gold in Muaythai world championship

HÀ NỘI — Bùi Yến Ly of Việt Nam entered the final of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur World Championships on May 26 in Jonkoping, Sweden.

Ly defeated Johanna Rydberg of the host nation in the semi-final match in the women’s 51kg category.

She is the second Vietnamese fighter advancing to the final round.

Earlier, Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất booked a place in the final of the men’s 60kg class. He will fight Mirbek Sartkalmakov of Kyrgyzstan for the gold today.

In another semi-final match on May 27, Nguyễn Thị Thanh Trúc of Việt Nam lost to Finnish Tessa Kakkonen in the women’s 48kg pool.

Thanh’s is the third bronze medal for Việt Nam after Lê Hoàng Đức’s in the men’s 48kg and Võ Văn Đại’s in the men’s 63.5kg. — VNS
