HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam landed home on August 31 safe and sound after proving their No 1 position in the Shuttlecock World Championships 2026 in Hagen, Germany.

There were nine categories orgsnised. Vietnamese players secured places in eight final matches and they successfully won seven.

The champions were Hồ Phước Sang in the men's singles; Phan Thị Quỳnh Liên and Phùng Mạnh Tú in the mixed doubles; Trần Anh Quân and Nguyễn Đức Chi in the men's doubles; men's and women's teams; and men's and women's quartets.

Lưu Hoàng Thanh Ngân regretably failed in the women's singles, losing 1-2 to Wai Ming Lo of Hong Kong (China).

Meanwhile duo Nguyễn Thị Thu Uyên and Nguyễn Thị Thùy Linh placed third in the women's doubles.

China came second with one gold, five silver and three bronze medals.

Hong Kong (China) were at third with one gold, three silvers and four bronzes.

The world championship featured 150 athletes from 13 countries and regions. Việt Nam set its domination in all 12 editions of the tournament which was first held in 2020. — VNS
