Hà Nội – Tens of thousands of runners are set to hit the ground running on October 5 for the fourth Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon, where artificial intelligence (AI)-powered innovations and personalised video systems promise to take their experience to the next stride and capture their finest moments.

The route showcases 37 cultural landmarks and modern urban highlights, giving participants a vivid journey through Hà Nội’s rich history and dynamic transformation.

This year’s race kit draws inspiration from the iconic Khuê Văn Các Pavilion – a timeless symbol of knowledge and heritage in the ancient capital of Thăng Long – combined with the 'Intersecting Curves' design theme, representing flow, connection and the strength of unity.

Finisher medals are true works of art, blending tradition with modernity.

“We acknowledge and highly appreciate the organisers’ efforts in promoting Hà Nội –a city with a thousand years of heritage, dynamism and development,” said Phạm Xuân Tài, deputy director of Hà Nội’s Department of Culture and Sports.

"We welcome the integration of Hà Nội’s iconic symbols into the race kit and the pioneering application of advanced technologies in line with global trends to enhance the athletes’ experience."

Digital innovation in sports

Techcombank affirms its country’s leadership by introducing the AI Transformation Movement – a unique digital engagement that seamlessly blends technology with sport.

A multi-modal AI system has been applied to create dynamic personalised videos, vividly re-enacting each runner’s journey in a one-of-a-kind way.

With just a single photo, participants can witness their own 'greater version' – from overcoming procrastination, fatigue or self-doubt to the triumphant moment of crossing the finish line in joy.

This innovative digital experience delivers freshness and differentiation and spreads the spirit of sport and the message of healthy positive living to the broader community.

“We have strived to deliver unique, refreshing and memorable experiences for every participating athlete," Chief Marketing Officer of Techcombank Thái Minh Diễm Tú said.

“These efforts have helped solidify the marathon’s pioneering position, fostering a healthy living culture and strengthening the community sports movement. We believe that when each individual finds inspiration within themselves, the entire community is energised to ‘Run for a Greater Việt Nam’.”

Furthermore, the organiser – Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV) – is rolling out a complimentary personalised video system for all athletes.

Camera systems positioned at multiple points along the course, featuring local iconic landmarks, will capture the athletes’ defining moments of breakthrough and self-conquest.

Participants can easily retrieve their personalised videos through facial recognition technology and their BIB numbers.

This initiative not only demonstrates SEV’s commitment to applying modern technology to elevate the sporting experience, but also enables athletes to preserve their most emotional milestones.

“Our goal is to provide athletes with the opportunity to challenge themselves, to discover and unlock their potential through a world-class sporting event,” said SEV General Manager Rob Zamacona.

“We are committed to continuous innovation and quality enhancement. Looking ahead, we will continue expanding interactive training and athlete care initiatives to deliver an ever more comprehensive and distinctive experience.”

As the tournament’s course is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, athletes’ results can be applied for all prestigious marathons worldwide. VNS
