HÀ NAM — Thái Sơn Nam successfully defended their title at the National Women's Futsal Championship with one game in hand on September 4 in Hà Nam Province.
A 5-1 win over Phong Phú Hà Nam was enough for the reigning champions to take the trophy home, without paying attention to the results of other matches at the tournament.
Considered the top team in the four-side competition, Thái Sơn Nam set their domination from the very start of the match in Hà Nam Gymnasium.
Just four minutes into the game, Đinh Thị Ngọc Hân opened the score for Thái Sơn Nam with a straight shot.
It was 2-0 for the visiting side at the 16th minute, when Lê Thị Thanh Ngân left all Hà Nam defenders behind to score in the far corner.
In the second half, Hà Nam tried to rearrange their line-up, strongly resisting Thái Sơn Nam's attacks. But they could only stay the course for five minutes.
Trần Nguyệt Vi intercepted a ball after a miscommunication between Hà Nam's players. She met no challenge to make it 3-0 at the 25th minute mark.
Seconds later, Kiều Thị Hoài Anh took a rare chance to narrow the score for the host side.
For the rest of the match, Ngân completed a double while A Dắt Rin Tô scored one to help Thái Sơn Nam wrap up a brilliant victory and win the championship in style.
After five matches they have 13 points, five points ahead of second-place HCM City, which beat Hà Nội 2-1 in another game on September 4.
The win over Hà Nội helped HCM City officially secure the silver. They have eight points, four more than Hà Nam in third place. Only one game remains in the tournament.
In the last fixture today, Thái Sơn Nam will play Hà Nội, while HCM City will take on Hà Nam.
Both Hà Nội and Hà Nam need a win over their stronger rivals to try to grab the bronze in the tournament. - VNS
