Vietnamese female referee to officiate at Maurice Revello

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese female referee Lê Thị Ly has been invited to officiate at the Maurice Revello, the oldest football tournament in France, in June.

The tournament, previously known as the Toulon Tournament, traditionally features invited national teams composed of youth players from U17 to U23 level. 

Teams from 10 countries will compete in this year event from June 3-16 is part of the 50th International Hope Festival.

FIFA has required nine female referees and 18 female assistants who will work in 26 matches. The organisers decided to appoint all women officials at the tournament since 2022.

The Việt Nam Football Federation believed that Ly's appointment was an honour and recognition from the world governing body to Vietnamese referees.

Ly has worked in number of international tournaments. Most recently, she was appointed to the final round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Uzbekistan last month.

She worked from group round till final match. She was main referee in the semi-final match between North Korea and South Korea. VNS
