HCM CITY — HCM City Club have made an exciting addition to their squad by signing Colombian striker Santiago Patino in preparation for the second leg of the V.League 1 2023-2024 season.

The 27-year-old recently joined San Antonio Club in August 2023 for a transfer fee of US$489,000, which stands as the highest amount ever received for the Colombian striker in his professional career. During his time at San Antonio Club, Patino showcased his scoring prowess by netting seven goals in 12 matches in the US second division.

After undergoing a trial period with HCM City Club in early March, Patino has now officially put pen to paper on a contract. Although the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed, it is known that the striker will receive a monthly salary of approximately $10,000.

By making a significant investment to secure Patino's services, HCM City Club are hopeful that the Colombian striker will contribute with a substantial goal tally, helping the team achieve positive results this season and avoid relegation.

Currently placed seventh out of 14 teams with 18 points after 13 matches, HCM City Club find themselves in a relatively safe position, enjoying a comfortable nine-point gap over bottom-placed Khánh Hòa.

The club removed striker Paul Ntep from the registration list in the league due to his underwhelming performances. However, the club are obligated to continue paying Ntep $15,000 per month until July, as terminating the contract early would incur a penalty of $200,000. VNS
