HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Boxing Federation has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the national sport centre Saigon Sports Club (SSC) to raise the level of boxing in the country.

Under the deal, SSC is not only a partner but also a sponsor of the federation in local activities and the national boxing tournament system.

The federation will receive more support from its new partner, looking forward to the strong development of boxing and to higher results in both local and international competitions.

The first activity jointly organised by the two parties will be the National Youth Boxing Championship 2023 later this year.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Trần Minh Tiến, federation president, appreciated SSC's care for national boxing. He hoped that the club's support would help Việt Nam boxing enhance its ability and have more success internationally.

Responding to Tiến, Lưu Tú Bảo, general director of SSC, said: "Việt Nam boxing has made its name in the regional and international competitions recently. Our support originates from our love for boxing. And at the same time, we hope to accompany national boxing on its way to success."

Previously, SSC sponsored the National Youth Boxing Championship in 2022 and the National Boxing Clubs Championship 2023.

After the new deal, SSC will increase its financial support to more than VNĐ2 billion (US$84,800) as they did in the past.

SSC is one of the leading sport clubs in Asia, training athletes in boxing, MMA, muay thai and jujitsu, among others. It is home to many national and international champions such as Lê Hữu Toàn, Trương Cao Minh Phát and Nguyễn Ngọc Hải. The club is also the organiser of many tournaments such as WBA Asia Boxing Championship Events, SSC Championship Events and SSC Interclub Boxing & Muay Thai. VNS
