ĐÀ NẴNG – Teams across the country are competing in the National Aged-Group Badminton tournament at the central city’s Tiên Sơn Sports Centre on June 19-25.
The event features more than 600 players in the boy’s and girls’ age groups from under-9 to under-17 playing for the Donex Cup, the city’s Culture and Sports Department said.
The tournament began with qualifying rounds of five events of the boys and girl’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles on June 19.
The annual event is part of the national badminton competition system to create opportunities for young players as well as for coaches on the look out for talent for the national recruitments, the national Việt Nam badminton federation (VBF) said.
Đà Nẵng City in central Việt Nam is one of the best places to host the annual tournament as it offers a favourite destination for tourism and sport activities, VBF said.
In the past, the beach city had successfully hosted the Badminton World Federation's (BWF) competition system including Việt Nam International Series.
The awards ceremony will take place from 8am on June 25, VBF said. VNS
