HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam beat Lebanon 3-0 in the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup’s second qualifying round held in Phú Thọ on June 5 to earn a place in the finals.

After the opening whistle, the home team quickly controlled the game, causing their opponent many difficulties, forcing Lebanon on the back foot from the off.

From the off, Việt Nam created many opportunities but goalkeeper Selena Malaeb performed excellently to prevent any early goals.

In the extra minutes of first half, striker Ngọc Minh Chuyên passed three defenders of Lebanon and fired home the opening goal for Việt Nam.

In the 76th minute, captain Lê Thị Bảo Trâm beat the Lebanese goalkeeper following Lê Thị Trang’s cross from close range to double the score for the hosts.

Three minutes later, it was striker Chuyên again who took advantage of her teammate Trang’s cross to complete her brace.

Earlier Việt Nam beat Iran 3-2.

Việt Nam will meet Australia on June 7 in their final match of the second qualifying round playing for top place in the group stage.

Both Việt Nam and Australia have six points after two victories in Group A with both teams already qualifying for the finals. VNS
