Nearly 5,000 local and foreign runners participate in the 2023 OneWay Vũng Tàu Marathon on April 23.

The nice weather and cool wind were ideal conditions for nearly 5,000 runners participating in the first edition of the Oneway Vũng Tàu.

They also had a chance to enjoy designed track routes which passed by the city's iconic landmarks, majestic mountains and beautiful beaches, along with the stunning sunrise.

This was the largest running event held in Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu Province which lured not only domestic but also international marathoners.

"This is one of our series of marathons under the trend of sports travel that will be held annually by the Radio Voice of Việt Nam, Việt Nam Journalist Association and online Young Businessmen magazine," said Bùi Minh Tuấn, deputy head of the organising board.

"These runs are expected to encourage people to participate in sports activities, popularise the culture and beauty of the host destinations and promote our tourism."

At the closing ceremony, organisers delivered more than 100 prizes with a total of VNĐ400 million (US$17,000) to high-ranking athletes. A special award of VNĐ111,111,111 ($4,666) was given to the club whose members ran the longest distance in total at the event. It will be delivered to the winning club after the organisers finish calculating.

The next event of the Oneway series will be held on Cát Bà Island in October. VNS
