HÀ NỘI -- The National Junior Speed Skating 2022 tournament will be held on February 19 at the Vincom Megamall Royal City Ice Rink in Hà Nội.
The tournament, which was delayed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will see almost 50 semi-pro and pro athletes who have qualified from tournaments held nationwide last year.
The racers, from six to over-16 years old, will compete in the boys' senior, boy's and girls' junior and novice events racing in different distances from 300m to 1,500m.
"This is a key event of the Skating Federation of Việt Nam (SFV) and national sports because it is to select the best athletes to compete in international competition in 2023," said Vice President of the SFV Nguyễn Việt Nam.
"These athletes will take part in intensive training courses to prepare for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in 2025 in Thailand."

The federation will also conduct a ceremony to award athletes and coaches for remarkable achievement in 2022.
The tournament, which is hosted by Hà Nội for the first time, is jointly organised by the SFV, Hà Nội Culture and Sports Department, Vincom Retail Company and Iskate Sports Jointstock Company. VNS
