Coal and Minerals secure first win, Hà Nam, HCMC grab easy victories

HÀ NỘI -- Việt Nam Coal and Minerals enjoyed their first win in the National Women's Football Cup beating Hà Nội 2, 2-1 on February 18.

Trần Thị Thu Xuân needed only three minutes to open the scoring for Coal and Minerals. Her teammate, national midfielder Nguyễn Thị Vạn, added the second in injury time to seal the win after Hà Nội 2's Trịnh Thị Thuỳ Linh brought the scores level on nine minutes.

She had a number of good chances in the match to seal victory for the capital team, but couldn't find the net. 

After two matches, Coal and Minerals jumped to the second place with three points, meanwhile Hà Nội 2 sit at the bottom still waiting for their first victory.

Phong Phú Hà Nam and HCM City won maximum points on February 17.

Phong Phú Hà Nam met with no difficulties to beat underdogs Sơn La 4-1 at the Việt Nam Youth Football Centre in Group B in Hà Nội.

Nguyễn Thị Quỳnh, Nguyễn Thị Hồng Cúc and Đinh Thị Duyên netted for Hà Nam all in the first half before Cà Thị Phượng scored an own goal near the end of the match.

 The only goal for Sơn La was scored by Lò Thị Hoài Vy in the 19th minute.

It was a big win for Hà Nam but they stay in the second place behind Hà Nội 1.

Sơn La are stuck at the bottom and will play Hà Nội 1 on February 20 when Hà Nam have a day off.

In Group A at Hưng Yên Province's PVF Centre, HCM City created a lot of threatening chances against Thái Nguyên T&T. But only Trần Thị Thu Thảo succeeded with a goal in first half added time. It was also the only goal of the match.

The second win of the defending champions keeps them on top of the group and are a step closer to the semi-finals.

In the next matches, HCM City will face Việt Nam Coal and Minerals on February 21 while Thái Nguyên will play Hà Nội 2. VNS
