Việt Nam confirms 236 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

Việt Nam recorded 211 local COVID-19 cases on Monday in eight localities, the Ministry of Health announced.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam recorded 211 local COVID-19 cases on Monday in eight localities, the Ministry of Health announced.

The new community cases include 122 in Bắc Giang Province, two in Hà Nội, 29 in Bắc Ninh Province, two in Hà Nam Province, two in Hà Tĩnh Province, one in Bình Dương Province, seven in Lạng Sơn Province and 46 in HCM City. 

Most of the new cases had close contact with previously confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Twenty five imported cases were immediately quarantined on arrival in HCM City, Tây Ninh and Tiền Giang provinces and Hà Nội.

A total of 141 patients were also given the all-clear from the disease on Monday.

As of Monday, the country’s total number of infections stands at 8,983, including 7,402 domestic cases and 1,581 imported cases.

Of those, 3,509 have recovered, according to the Ministry of Health.

There have been 5,832 cases since the latest outbreak hit the country on April 27. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 53 lives in Việt Nam so far. — VNS
